All natural or legal persons, citizens of ecuador or foreign citizens must be registered ECUAPASS importers with the approval of SENAE.
These are the requirements of Ecuador Customs to become an importer:
- You must obtain a RUC (unique tax payer registry), issued by the SRI (IRS)
- You must obtain a digital certificate for the electronic signature and have its authenticity verified and granted both by the bank Banco Central del Ecuador and Security Data: http://www.eci.bce.ec/web/guest and http://www.securitydata.net.ec
- Register online at ECUAPASS:http://www.ecuapass.aduana.gob.ec

International commerce involves the exchange of goods between different countries, this is a complex process that requires important knowledge of international trade and Incoterms.
In the case of negotiating under EXW terms, after the vendor/supplier delivers the cargo for pick-up, the buyer or importer must take over the following responsibilities:
- Personnel for the unloading/loading of cargo.
- Local Transport (truck, container, railway, etc.)
- A Customs Agent in the country of origin.
- International Transport (air, sea or ground).
- A Customs Agent in the country of destination.
- Ground transport at the country of destination to the buyers installations.
As you can see, this process involves a chain of different people. This increases the risks of your merchandise and complicates logistics.
